Hiero decklist

After deciding that I am too poor and never gonna lay my hands on both a Gustaph Max AND M7 (greedy me) at the same time, I hav decided that I should jus go back to Sams for the time being. My Samurai deck has been with me for almost 14 months now, and I'm mostly familiar with what Six Samurai are capable of, which are the brainless rush hands and which are the hands you should aim to drag a long control game with. Simply put, the deck I understand most is Samurai anyway. With Hiero all I do is Car farming and OTK, or damage control on a Maxx "C". Feels like the Doppel days, but less variation.

Maybe one day, similar to how I joined the Samurai after Gateway's limit, Hiero will be cheap and I can form it. I realise with the exception of my first WWBF I have never mained a deck which hasn't been hit by a banlist. AKB after Cat limit, WWBF again after Whirlwind limit, Six Sam after Gateway limit, Junkdo after Librarian and Formula. It seems the deck only becomes fun to play when the mindless plays go.

Having experienced Hiero first hand and proxying those money grabbers, this is my finalised build for anyone who cares:
3x Shiyu
3x Aset
3x Car
3x REDMD
2x Tfeni
2x Effect Veiler
1x Geib
1x Nepthe
1x Drago
1x Luster
1x Watt
3x Pot
3x MST
3x Seal of Gathering
2x Forbidden Lance
1x Storm
1x Book of Moon
1x Monster Reborn
2x Torrential
2x Thunder Break
1x Trap Stun

1x Black Rose
1x Maestroke
1x Roach
1x Hope
1x Volcasarus
1x Crimson Ninja
3x Atum
1x Bouncer
1x Cameraman
1x M7
2x Dragoon
1x Gustaph Max

And I'm telling you people, there is no harm in playing 1 Geib. That shit runs over Ophion with Lance AND Chain D is even more common than Bottomless now. Seriously, the Geib is good. Nepthe is bad and Tfeni is honestly the same as Kageki, useless alone, there is a reason why people only run 2 Kageki.

Anyway, when the TCG release the Six Sam deck I may replace my Kizans with commons. I think it's the foil that's making me draw 2 with my Enishi all the time. Mad rush every game with Excalibur!!!

What deck to play??

Over the pass week I have been deck hopping like free switching from Inzecter back to Six Sam to Rabbit and now Hieroglyph. Currently, the Hieroglyphs are the ones I am most comfortable with. But as everything is borrowed, I can't bring them to Worlds. Really the only thing I can bring is prolly Six Sam, which has gotten really frusrating as I am opening 3 or more
Monsters about 40% of the time despite playing only 13 mobs.

Still today is a big day cos I got my first Atum in a pack that I got on a whim. Yay.

Other options I have for Worlds are Karakuri, which is at least much more affordable, or TGAA. I am seriously considering the latter, though the probable 0-x I'll get against Inzecters is quite ....

Don't even look at Worlds, I don't even know what to play in my locals. Karakuri looks to be the top pick, followed by Six Sams and then Hieroglyph if my friends actually let me borrow it long term.

I can't wait for SD23 to release, can't wait to play it. I'll only get to use it about a couple of weeks before I retire for my mass mugging anyway.

TCG priority

Finally that shit's been removed and the game can become more like ours now.

What does this mean for TCG players?

Rabbit loses ALOT of potentcy.
Lightlords lose their sackiness of top decked JD.
BLS becomes BALANCED.
Veiler becomes stronger than it already is.

Expect to see those Thunder Breaks flying into a TCG deck near you.

Update

Sorry long period of inactivity, I've been busy and nothing much to write about cept for some pussy 8 man tourney report which I jus didn't feel like doing.

And we got STOMPed lol, but it's no big deal. Yet.

Anyway, I've been reading the guy from Digital Mortal and he is GOOD. Though our opinions may differ, he has described many of the experiences we have as players that we may not even notice ourselves. I suggest you go read it.

I've been thinking on doing some weekly article thing. But I haven't had any ideas yet. Been thinking of doing reviews of playability of banned stuff, feel free to leave any ideas.

SD23

The boss monster as well as his Super Rare sidekick have had their unconfirmed effects revealed.

They look KEWL!!!

BUY ALL THE TREEBORN FROGS!

No but seriously, it looks great. I'm liking it alot.

Hopefully I can build it and stop playing this Samurai shit, it gets so boring sometimes.

Hopefully, the last Super Rare will be as KEWL. And not some jank like all the other decks.

AND MY GOLD RARE GUNGNIR MIGHT FINALLY HAVE SOME USE!!

Ninjutsu Art of Super Transformation

Now that HANZO Hiero has taken the Top 2 spots in Singapore, and people are quoting crazy high prices for HANZO, I thought that I'd clear up some ruling issues with Super Transformation. HANZO isn't that hard to understand, jus Veiler it.

Rulings:
"The effect targets 1 face-up "Ninja" monster you control and 1 face-up monster your opponent control."

This is easy enough to understand. Basically, the only problem you should get with this is people trying to target Set monsters on their opponent's side or their own set Ninja.

"This card cannot be activated in the Damage Step."

Damage Step? Activate? NO.

"The targeted monsters are sent to the Graveyard when the effect resolves."

Basically, as long as the effect or activation isn't negated, and the card stays face up on the field during its resoulution, both monsters go.

"If during the effect's resolution there are no Dragon, Dinosaur or Sea Serpant Type monsters in the Deck, the targeted momsters are still sent to the Graveyard."

This is abit confusing for those not too good with rulings. For clarification, you MUST hav a valid target(s) in the Deck for the effect upon ACTIVATION. However, if the target(s) are no longer in the Deck when the effect passes, then both monsters will still go. As the effect itself was not negated.

"Xyz Monsters cannot be targeted by Ninjutsu Art of Super Transformation since they have no Level."

This includes the "Ninja" monster, so Blade Heart and No.12 cannot be Super Transformed.

"If during Ninjutsu Art of Super Transformation's resolution 1 of the targeted monsters is removed from the field, the remaining monster is still sent to the Graveyard, and you can Special Summon a Dragon, Dinosaur or Sea Serpent Type monster whose Level is equal or lower to the monster sent to the Graveyard."

The first part is easy enough to understand. As long as effect or activation is not negated, monsters will go. Just note that Book of Moon will not stop monsters from going as they are still on the field. The second part is harder, the Level of the SP-ed mob must be equal or less than the monster(s) that were sent to Graveyard by effect. Hence, if only a HANZO was sent. Hiero will lose all their viable targets unless they run Geib. The rest of the Level 4s are trash.

"Even of Macro Cosmos if active, Ninjutsu Art of Super Transformation can be activated. Also, if Macro Cosmos is active and Ninjutsu Art of Super Transformation is activated, so that the targeted "Ninja" monster you control and the opponent's face-up monster are not sent to the Graveyard and are banished instead, a monster cannot be Special Summoned from the Deck."

So basically, the Level of the Special Summoned mob only takes into accout things sent to the Graveyard.

"When Ninjutsu Art of Super Transformation is activated, it can target a Zoma the Spirit or Copy Knight that is being treated as a monster. Also, if Zoma the Spirit was sent to the Graveyard, it is not treated as a Monster Card but as a Trap Card., so it is not counted towards the sum of Levels. Furthurmore, Ninjutsu Art of Super Transformation can be activated targeting a Token monster, but when the Token monsters leaves the field it stops existing, and does mo count towards the total sum of Levels."

All in all, the Level count only takes those MONSTER CARDS that end up in the GRAVEYARD.

I hope that this helps to clarify and misconceptions of this card. It really can cause some really complicated scenarios.

Asia Championships 2012

Well, I didn't actually plan to do a report if I scrubbed in my first round. I didn't, but I lost my second round stupidly when I think if I had just followed my gut I would hav won.

That sucks, losing due to your own mistakes. So I was quite down about it but hey better men than me have had the same happen to them so WTF.

Anyway, I REALLY didn't want to be seeded, I wanted to win. But being seeded means you don't lose which about the same as winning so meh.

So being seeded I got to skip round 1 & 2, going straight to round 3.

Round 3 vs David (TG Inzecter) XOO
Game 1 - I started with Gateway United Yaichi double backrow. He starts with 4 backrow. I SP my topdecked Kizan, got Solemned, got Stormed and died. Damn.
Game 2 - I open with Shi'en off United. David hates Shi'en ;)
Game 3 - Game was called to time, he opened double Card Car "D"s which basically screamed "MY HAND IS SHIT" so I jus press some damage and win. Not how I envisioned winning....

Round 4 vs Anthony (Chaos Dragon) OXX
Game 1 - I got the best hand I ever got in my life. Well, it's only good if he had no backrow, which he didn't.
Game 2 - Made a mistake suspecting Chain D at first, but got greedy. In the end my potential Shi'en double backrow vs 3 hand cards became Enishi Elder double backrow vs Dragonute with 3 hand cards.
Game 3 - I drew my traps he opened Storm. There was really not much I could open with anyway.

Stupid way to win, stupid way to die, considering I should have already controlled Game 2. Would have went on to play against Wesley to have our first big tournament grudge match. More importantly, show that entering Top 20 wasn't a fluke just cos I was seeded.

My friend Zhi made it Top 8 with Six Sams and got a feature match. HE SHOULD HAVE BEEN TOP 4, MISPLAY. And summore I always win him one walau eh what is this logic.

Well good news is, I made alot of cash selling all my impulsive buys without making too much of a loss :) so that day I got Top 20, free mat and cash! And my friends were raiding the gift counter lololol.

Sad part though, as I was still in at Round 4, I was put off by that long queue for Challenge the Champion, should have just queued.

Left after watching all of Jeff's group games. Must say that the Korean deserved his win, though his game winning move of MST-ing his own Mantis seemed obvious, I'd bet some established players would miss it out in those pressure cooker situations, noobs won't see it at all.

Oh well, let's just get a proper mainstream winning deck {ahem Inzecters} and get ready for Worlds!

REDU prices in Japan

Not many people are letting go of their REDU shit because they aren't really sure how much it's worth.

So for people who want a second opinion.

http://ocg.xpg.jp/c/5413/

Then type the card's Jap name in the search box and scroll down. There they show the prices of the card in some of Japan's online stores. Just convert via exchange rate.

Apparently both Madou mobs are about $25, the Gear X is about $30, personally I believe these are all over hyped prices due to it's new release. We shall see.

You're welcome.

And tmr is the big day. Happy ACS'12, and may be odds be ever in you favour.

Anyway, it really is abit like the Hunger Games, we're all just there to kill each other, jus that some players like myself hav actually trained for this day (like Careers) and others going there jus to take mat are like those from the weaker districts, and then the Championship is just like the 3rd Quarter Quell. LOL. I'm such a book nerd, I should stop here.

But really, good luck to all. Let's all hav a wonderful time!

REDU

Today marked the arrival of REDU, which introduces the OOParts, Magical, H-C, Madolce and Geargia archetypes. Well not really Geargia since they had one piece of it made a long time ago.

Being the first pack of Series 8 it is expected to shape the meta like it's predecessors TDGS and DREV, while there are some interesting components of the new archetypes, none of them look to be more than Tier 2 as of yet.

Some highlights of the pack include of course the cover card and the new archetypes.

OOParts
Looks to be extremely combo based, a dangerous thing to do in a format with two Torrentials. However, does not look to require to many traps and with level manipulation abilities can make some synchro plays as they do not hav the "cannot be used as Synchro material" condition.

Magical
Looks to the potentially the next Tier 1 deck. Revolving around the use of "Book of Magic" spells, the monsters itself boast 4 foils, including a toolbox and a boss mob, as well as a boss Exceed and a ???WTF Exceed. Odds of this topping are the highest IMO.

H-C
It jus kinda looks trashy.

Madolce
Looks to be interesting, could start showing in the meta, although whether or not Konami will promote this deck is another question, as they do not rely on Exceeds.

Geargia
Having one of the most hyped about boss Exceed due to its versatility, this deck seems to lack support but if you think about it Inzecters also simply took Hornet, Damsel, Centipede and Mantis to play in the beginning, expect more potential in future support to push this to Tier 1.

Rock support
Does not yet seem viable. Hard to tell, as they seem bent on milling and bringing out their boss mob, but it's a defensive mob, so perhaps more offensive support could give this deck a push up to at least Tier 2.

Excalibur
It's strong, nothing more needs to be said about a 4k beater.

Gear-Gigant Cross X
Splashable and makes teching a few Machina here and there viable. You can also search Proto Cyber to Fortress people (LOL)

God of Snow Capped Mountain
Alot of potential in this staller, extremely defensive. I like it.

OOParts Technology
POT!!!

Galaxy Queen's Light
Tech into Spellcasters to make Hairpn more viable.

Book of Magic cards
Only Grimore and Necromonicon are good, the other two are meh....

Compulsory Withdrawal Device
I think this is good, LOL.

Attitude Reversal
Doesn't destroy stuff, but buys the turn against Inzecters anyway.

Purgatory Trap Hole
Will they stop making shit that kills Shi'en? EDIT: Looks like can't kill Shi'en, who can negate the activation of this thing anyway. Negate activation = negate effect of effect negation. If you get what I mean.

That's about all I hav to say for now, may update soon.

Want to know more about Pokémon?

Since the blog has coverage of Vanguard, which we play, I think we should cover some of everyone's favourite childhood game.

Pokémon!

Which we have been hacking and playing like free for the past week. Everyone that come Econ see us playing Pokémon instead of practicing for Asia. LOLGGSCRUB.

Just asking our readers if they actually care about our Pokémon strategies and ideas or not, cos if they do I might call a couple of my friends to write some articles.

After all, nothing much to talk about till REDU is really out.

So leave a comment about if you care about Pokémon or jus YGO. BTW, all our opinions are based on D/P as that's the only game our hacker has.

10 moar days.......

Seriously, school is more fucked than ever.

Anyway, the deadline to submit decklists is today, after some extension. I registered last week, but I FORGOT TO PRINT THE DECKLIST ARAGH.

Hope nothing goes wrong that day.

Anyway, looks to be grand event, having side events and shit.

Every knows the deck to expect right now is Inzecters and I actually predicted that Rabbit Ragia would win, but after much thought I believe that Hieroglyphs do hav a chance.

After their 2nd place showing by GQ in Malaysia's qualifyer, expect the representation of the deck to rise, possibly even outnumbering the Rabbit decks.

And I'm actually quite looking forward to see what the Korean brings, they do have a long history of bringing Six Sams do big tournaments, including last year's Asia and World Champ.
